The Office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman (CIS Ombudsman) announced it had appointed four regional representatives across the country.

What Is the CIS Ombudsman?

The CIS Ombudsman is an independent office within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), created by Congress in 2002. Its main job is to help people resolve issues with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The office offers confidential help with specific immigration cases, identifies ongoing problems, and suggests ways for USCIS to improve its services.

New Regional Representatives

The new representatives are located in:

  • Los Angeles (Western Region)
  • Dallas (Central Region)
  • Boston (Northeast Region)
  • Orlando (Southeast Region)

These representatives will connect with local immigrant communities and give feedback to USCIS on how it can improve its policies, the CIS Ombudsman office said in a statement. They will also explain how the office can help immigrants with a challenging immigration case.
